A big subdivision of brick-and-hardboard houses from the 1970s and 1980s, with an active association and mature trees. Roofs are on their second or third cycle, and the hardboard on the gables is the same age as the house.
Hardboard above brick on gables and rear walls is typical of the era, not a finding about any one street. Soft bottom laps are a section repair; a whole rear wall gone is an elevation.
When both are due, the wall-to-roof flashing is where they meet, and doing the roof first lets the siding be flashed over it properly.

Attics here were built with turbines and little soffit intake. A replacement is the time to fix that; a repair is not.
